Entry 01. On flunking out of art school before ever going.

I don’t know how many people know the real me. I don’t mean in the Twilight-reading emo-princess late-MySpace-early-Tumblr way. Basically: I was supposed to go to art school. My plan in life was never to go to art school, but everyone around me expected me to. Art school never occurred to me because I never thought I was any good, but I did spend hours every night and weekend drawing drawing drawing.

I don’t know when I lost the habit, but it never went on long. I am rustier at drawing from imagination than I would like to be, but a little referencing never hurt anyone.

Anyway, in an intense moment of vulnerability I would like to share with you all some drawings I consider “complete” from the last two years or so. Apologies in advance for the fanart ^___^

Hmm, as for a closing statement… (Imagine me pretending to stroke my chin here) I suppose I am hoping to reintroduce creativity into my life again. I believe that algorithmically-driven social media has been a net negative on my self-esteem and my creativity so I am hoping to be more offline. I am hoping to slow down my life considerably. Take time for serious creative problem solving, be it writing or drawing (digital, colored pencils, or ink being my primary media fyi!) or making music or learning something new (my other big love) or editing a video. I am not supposed to scroll. I am not supposed to watch endless YouTube videos. I am supposed to be creating something. I think.
